Hamilton East School is a central city primary school with 460-500 students. The school nurtures tamariki (children) to feel proud of themselves, each other and the school; to be confident; to Stand Tall and Reach High – “Tū Tangata Tū Māia”. Hamilton East School treasures its bi-cultural heritage, with Te Reo and Matauranga Māori (Māori language and knowledge) woven through their programmes. The school also embraces the 20+ other cultures within the school, celebrating the richness of diversity and creating a sense of belonging. International students join regular classrooms, supported by the classroom teacher, a Learning Assistant, and the Deputy Principal who has overall responsibility for their welfare and education.
