A Christmas market about to launch in the Waikato was borne out of the challenges posed by the Covid-19 lockdown earlier this year.
When business ground to a halt in March, the founder of Salt Collective – a Raglan-based event management company – had to put all events on hold and went back to the drawing board.
Tash McGowan was inspired by a continuous feed of online pages dedicated to supporting local producers and creators over lockdown, so she put her event creation skills to work and drew up plans for a new event in the Waikato to support these local businesses and bring the community together over the Christmas season.
“In just over two weeks more than 60 vendors had signed up”.
With just over six weeks until the event, more than 110 vendor sites are now booked with vendors coming from all around the Waikato.
Tash has expanded Salt Collective to cope, bringing on board administrator Ani Ubertalli.
“We are well-positioned to move forward and adapt in this new, evolving event landscape.”
Waikato Christmas Market will bring together local creators, designers and crafters for families to buy quality gifts this Christmas for loved ones and support local small businesses. Stalls will be stocked with Christmas gifts and decorations, books, children’s toys, jewellery, candles, soaps, homewares and more.
The Christmas spirit will be alive with live music, horse and cart rides, delicious fresh food and even an appearance from the man himself, Santa.
The market will be held at the Claudelands Barn and Lawn in Hamilton on Saturday December 12.
